Ask Your Senators to Vote NO on PIPA

UPDATE: Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) has postponed the  vote on the Preventing Real Online Threats to Economic Creativity and Theft of Intellectual Property Act (PROTECT IP Act, or PIPA), S.968. Despite this good news, your Senators still need to hear from you! Please write or call your Senators NOW to urge them to oppose S. 968.

The bill, which is the counterpart to the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA), H.R. 3261, threatens free speech, free expression and the freedom of the Internet by permitting the Attorney General to require domain name registries to cut off access to websites that the Department of Justice determines to be  "dedicated to infringing activity." Please contact your Senators NOW to ask them to oppose PIPA. Please edit your letters with your own examples and stories. Personal letters make the difference!

Take Action to oppose H.R. 3699, a bill to prevent public access to taxpayer-funded research
On December 16, 2011, Representative Darrell Issa (R-CA-49) and Representative Carolyn Maloney (D-NY-14) introduced the Research Works Act (H.R. 3699), which threatens public access to taxpayer-funded research. The bill would roll back the National Institutes of Health's succesful Public Access Policy and would prevent the development of similar policies at other Federal agencies. Specifically, the bill would prohibit agencies from requiring that products funded by taxpayer dollars be made available to the public online in a timely manner.

Please use our template to write to your House Representative and ask him or her to oppose H.R. 3699.
