The Honorable XXX XXXX
United States Senate/House
XXXX Office Building
Washington, DC 20510-4601
Dear Senator/Representative XXX:
I write to you today to invite you and your staff to visit our museum, «Name of Zoo/Aquarium/Museum».
«[Write a little bit about the visitor experience at your museum and some of the current public programs. Highlight your most recent exhibit or "what’s new" at your museum. For example: "Visitors to our museum have the opportunity to experience first hand an interactive exhibit about our local history" or "can see up close the science behind everyday occurrences"]»
Museums provide opportunities to engage with history, science, art and nature, educating students and visitors in unique ways. Every day, museums are working with local schools to help teach the curriculum. Museums in your district and state tell the stories of our natural and intellectual world - from the science that explores the workings of the universe, to the documents, artifacts and places that make up the history of our communities.
According to a recent Institute of Museum and Library Services report, museums and libraries rank higher in trustworthiness than all other information sources, including government, commercial and private websites. This report highlighted the vital role of museums in supporting formal education and providing informal learning opportunities to students and citizens of all ages. Indeed the purpose of all museums is educating the public. But it takes a dedicated staff and a well-maintained collection or exhibition space to make all of this happen.
We would like to invite you and your staff to visit our museum and experience all we have to offer first-hand. Please contact me to make arrangements for your visit.
Sincerely,
