President Barack Obama's American Jobs Act includes payroll tax cuts, tax credits and tax relief for businesses. Meant to increase consumer demand next year, these $253 billion proposals do not affect - directly or immediately - the unemployed. If you're not working, you're not paying payroll taxes.

 

That $253 billion would be better spent hiring unemployed Americans - directly and immediately - in a modern day version of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) or Works Progress Administration (WPA).

 

Tell Congress to vote "No" on these lackluster provisions - and instead put Americans back to work through the creation of a 21st century CCC or WPA.
