Earlier this month, the House Appropriations Committee proposed to increase the fiscal year (FY) 2013 National Science Foundation (NSF) budget to a level $299 million (4.3 percent) above its current level. Unfortunately, this is less than was recommended by the Obama Administration and ACS, but it is now the best-case scenario in the current budget climate. This week, the House of Representatives will consider the FY 2013 NSF budget, and some members are likely to offer amendments in an effort to cut NSF funding below the committee’s recommendation.
