Current Actions http:https://www.congressweb.com/CMAA Mon, 04 May 2026 14:45:50 GMT Support 2026 National Golf Day http:https://www.congressweb.com/CMAA/32 <div>The American Golf Industry Coalition (AGIC) will bring together leaders from across the sport May 4–6 in Washington, DC, for the 18th annual&nbsp;National Golf Day, in recognition of golf’s positive impact on people, communities, and the economy.</div> <div>&nbsp;</div> <div>Representing nearly 50 allied organizations—from course owners, operators, and managers to manufacturers, turf professionals, and community programs—AGIC is advancing a unified agenda built around&nbsp;four key areas of focus:&nbsp;</div> <ul> <li>Being Responsible Stewards,</li> <li>Delivering Health and Wellness,</li> <li>Driving Economic and Charitable Impact,&nbsp;and&nbsp;</li> <li>Expanding Access to the Game.</li> </ul> <div>&nbsp;</div> <div>On&nbsp;Tuesday, May 5, industry volunteers will participate in&nbsp;Community Service Projects&nbsp;at the&nbsp;National Mall&nbsp;and&nbsp;Old Soldiers’ Home Golf Course, continuing AGIC’s tradition of environmental restoration and public-space enhancements across Washington, DC.</div> <div>&nbsp;</div> <div>On&nbsp;Wednesday, May 6, more than 320 golf industry professionals will conduct&nbsp;legislative visits on Capitol Hill&nbsp;with members of Congress and their staff, including members of the&nbsp;Congressional Golf Caucus co-chaired by&nbsp;Representatives Richard Hudson (R-NC), Scott Peters (D-CA), Nancy Mace (R-SC),&nbsp;and&nbsp;Jimmy Panetta (D-CA).</div> <div>&nbsp;</div> <div>CMAA’s Advocacy Committee, Board of Directors, and many other CMAA members will join the activities to advocate for the industry and our key issues. This marks the largest CMAA contingent at National Golf Day.</div> <div>&nbsp;</div> <div>Key issues for discussion will include:</div> <div>&nbsp;</div> <div>The Parity for Athletic Recreation Act (PAR) – HR1583 is bipartisan legislation to amend the Internal Revenue Code to correct the exclusion of golf courses and country clubs from access to tax-exempt bond proceeds and disaster relief available to other small businesses and recreational facilities.</div> <div>&nbsp;</div> <div>H-2B Visas – Seasonal Workforce Access is key for the golf industry and others who rely on H-2B workers to fill seasonal roles that remain unfilled despite intensive domestic recruitment efforts. The current supply is insufficient and permanent reform is needed.</div> <div>&nbsp;</div> <div>Turfgrass Research – Turfgrass is the country’s fourth largest crop. The reauthorization of the National Turfgrass Research Initiative (NTRI) would support federal investment in turfgrass genetics, drought tolerance, pest resistance, and water efficiency research for the benefit of all users nationwide.</div> <div>&nbsp;</div> <div>The Personal Health Investment Today Act (PHIT) – HR2369/S1144 is bipartisan legislation that would amend the Internal Revenue Code to allow fitness and physical activity expense to qualify as medical deductions.</div> <div>&nbsp;</div> <div>All CMAA members can virtually support these efforts by contacting their members of Congress through ClubIndustryVotes.org. It takes just a few minutes to amplify the effort!</div> <div>&nbsp;</div> Tue, 28 Apr 2026 04:00:00 GMT http:https://www.congressweb.com/CMAA/32
