Current Actions http:https://www.congressweb.com/CMTA Thu, 02 May 2024 02:47:27 GMT Get Maryland Moving http:https://www.congressweb.com/CMTA/28 <div> <div>From Salisbury, to Baltimore, to Frederick, all Marylanders deserve to get around safely, reliably, and affordably. Wherever we live across the state, we want our communities to be inclusive and vibrant. Our transportation system plays a key role in making that happen.</div> <div>&nbsp;</div> <div>But the Maryland Department of Transportation – influenced by the asphalt and road-building industry -- continues to pour OUR tax dollars into expanding roads and widening highways. This type of wasteful spending has been proven to actually increase traffic and have negative impacts on air pollution, water quality, and public health.</div> <div>&nbsp;</div> <div>Imagine if these resources were instead spent on accessible sidewalks, crosswalks, bike paths, and investing in high-quality public transit that helps increase access and safety for all Marylanders.</div> <div>&nbsp;</div> <div>Tell Governor Moore that if he truly wants to leave no one behind it’s time for Maryland to fund transit, biking, and walking projects, that get us all where we need to go.</div> </div> Thu, 18 Jan 2024 05:00:00 GMT http:https://www.congressweb.com/CMTA/28 All Aboard the Advocacy Bus http:https://www.congressweb.com/CMTA/27 <div> <div>A common complaint from advocates in the Baltimore region is that there is not sufficient transit service to Annapolis. This lack of access to our state capital is especially burdensome for Baltimore's transit riders since the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is a state agency -- answerable only to the Governor and General Assembly. There is no local transit board or oversight authority so riders must travel to Annapolis during the General Assembly Session if they want the opportunity to press lawmakers to improve and adequately fund the MTA.</div> <div><br /> The MTA has proposed eliminating the entire Commuter Bus program. Currently, the Commuter Bus 215 from Baltimore to Annapolis provides 3 inbound (early morning) and 3 outbound (late afternoon) trips on weekdays. This is not enough service for riders who visit Annapolis during the 90-day session of the Maryland General Assembly from mid-January to mid-April. Instead of canceling the Annapolis service, MTA should pilot expanded service on the 215 that would provide12 inbound trips and 12 outbound trips (approximately hourly service from 7am - 7pm) during the 90 days the MGA is in session and revert to the the regular schedule for the rest of the year.</div> </div> Wed, 15 Nov 2023 05:00:00 GMT http:https://www.congressweb.com/CMTA/27 We Need to Raise our Grade http:https://www.congressweb.com/CMTA/7 <div>Transportation in the Baltimore Region earns a 'D+' in our latest report card. Operator shortages and disrepair hurts transit reliability. Households struggle with high transportation costs and too many neighborhoods lack access to opportunities. Tell your elected officials that a 'D+' is unacceptable and we need better transportation projects and policies that will grow the economy, give people choices and keep our environment healthy.</div> Mon, 09 Nov 2015 05:00:00 GMT http:https://www.congressweb.com/CMTA/7
