State funding enables Women Against Abuse to provide supportive services to thousands of people each year. However, we are still forced to turn away thousands of requests for safe shelter annually due to lack of funding and space. Adequate funding for domestic violence allows us to better serve the complex needs of survivors in our community.

Contact your Pennsylvania state legislator and urge them to support vital programs for survivors of domestic violence by increasing funding for these items in the state budget.

An increase in state funding is necessary to ensure our continued capacity to better meet the needs of survivors. Survivors of domestic violence in Pennsylvania deserve a budget that prioritizes their safety and adequately funds these lifesaving programs and services!

Every year, thousands of domestic violence (DV) survivors rely on the City of Philadelphia to provide support for life-saving programs and services. These programs need to be prioritized to effectively deliver services that meet the complex needs of all survivors and decrease the prevalence of DV in the city.

As elected officials look ahead to the programs the city will prioritize and fund this year, survivors need YOU to speak up and demand that the city does everything it can to fully support domestic violence programs in the city.

Act Now - Urge Congress to support the Family Violence Prevention and Services Improvement Act (FVPSA)

The Family Violence Prevention Services Act (FVPSA) is the only dedicated federal funding source exclusively for domestic violence services. Congress has not reauthorized FVPSA since 2010, leaving it vulnerable to significant funding cuts, even as demand for life-saving intervention continues to increase. FVPSA supports programs like Women Against Abuse by ensuring that families staying in safe havens have food, support, and 24-hour security.

The Senate has introduced the Family Violence Prevention and Services Improvement Act (FVPSA Improvement), S. 1275. This bill would modify, expand, and reauthorize FVPSA through FY2026.
