Contact State Senators: Support SB 297 and End the "Tampon Tax"

Georgia STOMP seeks to eliminate Georgia’s state sales tax on MDCDs (Menstrual Discharge Collection Devices), a tax which is unfair at best and discriminatory on the basis of sex at worst. Georgia collects approximately $1000 via this tax during a menstruator's life. Menstruators have no choice but to shoulder this financial burden because these products are medical necessities required for good health and full participation in work and life.

House Bill (HB) 25 would allow Georgia to apply for a waiver if made available so that SNAP and WIC benefits could be used to purchase period products.

Why is this important?

Families often have access to some basic needs more readily than others.
If the federal government were to give states the opportunity to apply for such a waiver, this bill would make it possible for Georgia to do so immediately.
This supports families with getting what they need when they need it.

Contact Senate Committees: Match Vital Funding for Period Products

The House sent the budget to the floor with small funding additions for "feminine hygiene products": $50k was added to the Georgia Department of Public Health (GaDPH) budget and $150k added to the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) budget. We need your help to make sure the Senate matches this AT THE LEAST! Please call or email members of the Senate Education and Youth Committee and the Senate Health and Human Services Committee and ask that they add matching funds at a minimum when the budget comes to them. If you are a consitutent of someone on either of these committees, you will automatically be prompted to message them.

ASK: Senate Education and Youth Committee and Health and Human Services Committee - Support the addition of matching funds, at a minimum, to what was added by the House for feminine hygiene products.
