Last year, Congress voted to eliminate critical benefits for households, churches, schools, and other vital community service providers to more readily choose money-saving clean energy upgrades. These cost-cutting benefits made it easier than ever to take action to defend our health and protect God’s creation with cleaner air, purer water, less carbon pollution, lower household electricity bills, and new family-sustaining jobs in our communities through clean energy upgrades and investments.

In a time when rising electricity costs and energy demand are straining family budgets, we need to bring these benefits back. Speak Out for National Parks and Public Lands

Last spring, a bipartisan group of Senators introduced the America the Beautiful Act, a bill that builds on the success of the 2020 Great American Outdoors Act by strengthening and reauthorizing the Legacy Restoration Fund–which expired in September 2025–to national parks and public lands. As America’s national parks see record-breaking numbers of visitors from across the globe, the Legacy Restoration Fund would provide $16 billion to address critical repair needs and deferred maintenance such as crumbling roads, decaying buildings, and outdated water systems.

To date, the Great American Outdoors Act has successfully addressed billions of dollars in deferred maintenance in national parks and public lands in all fifty states. But the challenge remains to address the full backlog of much-needed repairs to improve visitor safety and overall accessibility and enjoyment of our parks. The extension of the Legacy Restoration Fund is projected to support an additional 20,000 jobs annually and contribute $10 billion to local economies over the next five years on top of the robust economic boost of visitor tourism.

Call on Congress and the EPA to Protect Human Health and the Environment

On March 12, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced its intent to overturn and undo decades of bipartisan consensus on critical pollution safeguards that have resulted in cleaner air and water and significant health improvements. The announcements cover 31 health protections, including standards on mercury, soot, and traffic pollution as well as the reconsideration of a decade-old, evidence-based conclusion that carbon dioxide, methane, and four other climate-warming pollutants endanger human health and welfare.

These crucial protections and safeguards are the result of years of advocacy and commitment to defending the lives of our children and communities from harmful pollution and negative health outcomes including hindered brain development, low birth weight, asthma, and spinal cord defects in newborns as well as higher rates of dementia and cancer in adults. While we have made incredible gains in recent years, the American Lung Association finds that nearly 40% of Americans, representing 131.2 million people, still live in areas with unhealthy air. Our work is far from finished, and we will not rest until all God’s children are free from the burden of pollution and can reach their full God-given potential.

Over the past few years, our EEN community has worked hard to achieve historic action on pollution safeguards, clean energy, and climate solutions that defend our children’s health, provide family-sustaining careers, and put our nation and the world on the path toward a brighter future.

Through your dedicated actions and support, EEN has been a key player in helping pass unprecedented investments in clean energy and climate action through the bipartisan infrastructure bill and even more in the Inflation Reduction Act. In 2024 alone, we celebrated stronger safeguards on soot, methane pollution, carbon pollution from power plants, and traffic pollution from heavy and light-duty vehicles.

As we welcome a new administration and Congress, we must ensure that this momentum is continued and not halted or stripped back.
