Now that the House has elected a new Speaker, Congress will resume its legislative work. The House Appropriations Committee introduced the FY 2024 Labor-HHS-Education Appropriations bill as written in subcommittee. It is anticipated that this means the bill would come to a floor vote the week of November 13 and maintains the elimination of Federal Work-Study (FWS) and Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (SEOG) program funding. The US Senate has proposed to cut both programs by $10 million.
